Synopsis:

Streetwise Jin-a takes up residence in a boarding house in Pohang run by a small close-nit fmaily. Continuiing to sell her body in the tight conditions, inevitable confrontations threathen to destory life for them all. From Director Kim Ki-duk, the only Korean director to have received awards at 3 major festivals ('Arirang' - Cannes, 'Samaritan Girl' - Berlin, '3-Iron' - Venice), see this early masterpiece that put him on the world stage. 

 

Trivia: Kim Ki-duk picked up the World Cinema Award from the Noosa Film Festival for his work on Birdcage Inn!

 

Theme: Dramatic Relationships focuses on films that feature strong female characters and stories of their relationships with men and the world around them. Prominent independent and art house film directors are highlighted in the program, including Kim Ki-duk, Hong Sang-soo and Im Sang-soo ('A Good Lawyer's Wife', 'The Housemaid').
